Rosewald Farm in Hillsborough, NH
Nestled amidst the foothills of New Hampshire's White Mountains, Rosewald Farm is situated on 37 acres of fields and forest and borders the Fox State Forest while being only one mile from downtown Hillsborough. It is a 30-minute drive to the state capital of Concord and a 45-minute drive to the Manchester airport.
The original farmhouse was built in the 1700's with the main portion of the house being added in the mid 1800's and a later addition in the early 1900's. The 13-room farmhouse is currently used as the base of operations for day services and also houses some office space and living suites for two staff.
The main kitchen is busy throughout the day; as it is used to prepare a substantial lunch for everyone who participates in our day services. When the gardens are being harvested, it sees additional use for canning and freezing our produce for winter. We are working to renovate both the main kitchen and the summer kitchen; the latter will be used for baking and preserving items that are sold at our farmstand.
We have renovated a large, seasonal porch into a sun-filled dining room.
The administrative offices are adjacent to the barn facing the driveway and greets visitors with its expanse of welcoming windows.
The large, spectacularly built, 3 story post and beam barn is home to our farm animals. The carriage house includes a heated craft room that will soon become our woodworking shop. A 5 bay garage is attached and houses our farm equipment and workshop.
In 2011 we completed six new activity rooms in the lower level , of two of our residences. These give us separate spaces for yoga, recreation (pool table, air hockey, etc.), art, exercise equipment, sensory and weaving. In the fall of 2011 we will begin to offer weaving classes to the general community.
Between 2008 and 2011 we constructed six new residential apartment buildings, WoodsEdge at Rosewald Farm at the border of our pasture and the forest.
A walk around the property also reveals two greenhouses, a caretaker’s cottage, several other outbuildings, and a gazebo that complement the gardens, orchards and pastures of Rosewald Farm.
